  • distance is no match for love.

    I put these up on facebook already, but I just love them so much I couldn't resist.

    Shakespeare's Sonnet 116

    Let me not to the marriage of true minds
    Admit impediments. Love is not love
    Which alters when it alteration finds,
    Or bends with the remover to remove:
    O no! it is an ever-fixed mark

    That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
    It is the star to every wandering bark,
    Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
    Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
    Within his bending sickle's compass come:
    Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
    But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
    If this be error and upon me proved,
    I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

    &&

    A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning

    As virtuous men pass mildly away,
    And whisper to their souls to go,
    Whilst some of their sad friends do say,
    "Now his breath goes," and some say, "No."

    So let us melt, and make no noise,
    No tear-floods, nor sigh-tempests move ;
    'Twere profanation of our joys
    To tell the laity our love.

    Moving of th' earth brings harms and fears ;
    Men reckon what it did, and meant ;
    But trepidation of the spheres,
    Though greater far, is innocent.

    Dull sublunary lovers' love
    —Whose soul is sense—cannot admit
    Of absence, 'cause it doth remove
    The thing which elemented it.

    But we by a love so much refined,
    That ourselves know not what it is,
    Inter-assurèd of the mind,
    Care less, eyes, lips and hands to miss.

    Our two souls therefore, which are one,
    Though I must go, endure not yet
    A breach, but an expansion,
    Like gold to aery thinness beat.

    If they be two, they are two so
    As stiff twin compasses are two ;
    Thy soul, the fix'd foot, makes no show
    To move, but doth, if th' other do.

    And though it in the centre sit,
    Yet, when the other far doth roam,
    It leans, and hearkens after it,
    And grows erect, as that comes home.

    Such wilt thou be to me, who must,
    Like th' other foot, obliquely run ;
    Thy firmness makes my circle just,
    And makes me end where I begun.

  • Is it true what they say? They tell me that the rain will stop tomorrow, that my storms are ending.
    You tell me it will rain tomorrow where you are.
    The water may fall from the sky but not from your eyes, I will not permit it.
    天破烂时,星落到我旁边,大厦也摔跤,我心里只有你,我只能想你。
    一定是你,there's nothing else.

  • to memories soon deceased.

    not long ago, i participated in my first rally in order to protect the clock tower from being demolished.

    tomorrow, they take it down.

    if you've been aware of the renewal and development of hong kong, you'd realize that we've been tearing down every semi-monumental part of our city. The police station in SoHo to be completely redeveloped, the wan chai market--standing since hong kong island's coast line was still on glouster street in wan chai and withstood the war, the entire wan chai district with more than a hundred years of history of our people, and many more.

    tomorrow, we say goodbye to our star ferry clock tower. standing for over hundreds of years, having the royals of england come dock at its pier. over looking and safe gaurding each ferry as it came and went. singing its melodious chime each hour...
    goodbye clock tower and goodbye pier. we salute you.

  • 2 corin. 12:9-10

    (9)But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. (10)That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

  • When Harry Met Sally

    Harry: Well how does it work?

    Sally: I don't know but not this way.

    Harry: Well, how about this way? I love that you get cold when it's seventy one degrees out, I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich, I love that you get a little crinkle above you nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts, I love that after I spend a day with you I can still smell your perfume on my clothes and I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it's not because I'm lonely, and it's not because it's New Years Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of the life to start as soon as possible.

    Sally: (crying) You see, that is just like you Harry. You say things like that and you make it impossible for me to hate you. And I hate you Harry... I really hate you.

    (He grins at her, and through her tears, she smiles back)

    (They kiss)
